CORE BUSINESS -DFI Week One

Reflection
Today I attended the first session for the 2020 Digital Fluency Intensive at Bay of Islands College. It was interesting to hear how Manaiakalani was founded and what work was put in to make this accessible to all students within the first cluster. We focused on a lot of different tools and extensions that can be used to amplify student learning and make it more engaging. I found the idea on using word count for writing and reading with the text to speech tool really exciting and is something I would love to use with my students, I would also like to tie in math by getting them to graph their progress in this. I am looking forward to our next session and to see what other digital technologies can be used in my practice and my students learning.

Create: We had to use google docs to create something. I decided to make an infographic that provided hyperlinks to sites that students can use to work on their math skills. I then uploaded it onto their class site so that they all have easy access to these sites. This will be a part of their contracts.
